Innovative program to promote the sustainability of social entities and entrepreneurs in rural areas in Asturias

💡 Description: The project is about promoting 5 SMEs or companies in the territory of Asturias, Spain, through young university talent to help them have a positive social, environmental or economic impact. The purpose of this project is to promote and accompany social entities, small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as rural entrepreneurs to define and move towards more sustainable and carbon-neutral business models, through training and connection with university talent that allows them to develop innovative projects with socio-environmental impact in Asturias, Spain. The accompaniment model promotes the generation of training and dialogue spaces to identify their needs and main challenges in terms of digitalization, green business, food sovereignty, inclusion, equality, environmental protection, sustainable development, energy transition and other dimensions of the 2030 Agenda. Subsequently, these challenges are translated into project proposals that are presented on the U4IMPACT platform so that they can be developed and solved by undergraduates in their final year of their bachelor's or master's degree, who will work with these entities in the framework of their final year project (TFG/M). Each of the 5 entities will work with a student who will dedicate an average of 360 hours to the completion of the TFG/M (thesis). During the development of the projects, the students will receive advice and training from U4IMPACT to develop their collaborative and communicative skills. In this way, young people develop professional skills (increasing employability), and transform their mindsets in terms of sustainability, while helping organizations to solve real challenges that improve our planet and promote the 2030 Agenda. Finally, in order to expand the scope of this initiative, a communication and advocacy strategy will be developed to highlight success stories and the innovative potential of local organizations, SMEs and rural entrepreneurs, in partnership with the academic sector and young students, in the transformation of society and the generation of opportunities in rural areas.
🎯 Target Group: Undergraduates and 5 SMEs in Astrurias
🌱 Expected Results: Training, raising awareness and analysis of 5 entities about innovation, generation of impact and attraction of young talent. Promotion of 5 innovation projects in entities thanks to the work with young university students and academic support. Transfer of knowledge and talent from the university to Spanish entities on sustainability and innovation, with an average of 360 hours per project (plus possible internships). Identification of lessons learned and good practices linked to the areas of work of the entities in the field of environmental impact. Promotion and communication to entities in Asturias about the innovative potential of the organizations, the work with young people, and the opportunities for entrepreneurship under environmental and social sustainability criteria. Increased employability of young people completing their university studies. Dissemination and communication among young people through universities of the potential of entrepreneurship with social and environmental impact. Increased awareness of young people on sustainable development. Promotion of the 2030 Agenda through an innovative multi-stakeholder collaboration model.
