- 💡 Description
- Group focused on nuclear power engineering.\nThe aim is to evaluate and popularise nuclear energy as an emission-free source for coal mining Just Transition territories in the Czech Republic. \nFour-member group from the Ústí nad Labem and Karlovy Vary regions. Students of electrical engineering at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the West Bohemian University in Pilsen, interested in the electrical engineering and heating industry in our regions. This project knows and studies its weak points, and during the study, they try to find solutions to current issues. At university, in their studies so far, they are mainly focused on nuclear energy (they wrote a bachelor's thesis on the topic of small modular reactors as a fossil fuel-based plants alternative for the entire Czech Republic, and they also wrote a few school articles on the topic of SMR – small modular reactors). Therefore, they have ideal possibilities for a high-quality solution to the issue of replacing fossil resources that have expired.\nThus, they will help the affected groups in the regions. They want to present their analysis on this topic directly for KVK/UST region to the public, they want to talk with operators and owners of current coal-fired and non-coal-fired facilities for electricity production.\nThanks to SMR research in the Czech Republic, they have contacts with suppliers of small modular reactors – they want to have a discussion with them about how far along the development is and when small modular reactors could be put into operation in the regions and what are the requirements for operating such a facility.\nThey think that SMR technology will play a significant role in the transition from emission sources, so they would like to bring this topic to the people in the affected regions. They want to have a discussion with the State Office for Nuclear Safety and bring the subject of perspective on the requirements for the final site and the nuclear resource itself to the people.
- 🎯 Target Group
- 🌱 Expected Results
- Research reports:\n- Current energy systems in regions (demands, current plant status, impact on environment).\n- SMR status and application possibilities in regions.\nFacebook/Instagram page with regular contributions from reports:\n- Min. 1x contribution per 2 weeks.\n- 1000 followers at the end of the project.
