- 💡 Description
- We want to set up a community garden to help long-term unemployed , single parent women and there families to pass on the konwladge of self-care, community garden can make a hudge contribution for all. \n\"We are young volunteers of Društvo prijateljev mladine Trbovlje (association DPM Trbovlje) and have been observing abandoned garden behind our association's premises for quite some time.\nWe live in an urban environment where there is little opportunity to grow produce for home use, but there is a great social lack, especially in single-parent families, where mothers often support the family on their own. In most cases, these women are already long-term unemployed for a number of reasons: whether they are unable to work because of childcare, have children with special needs, come from other countries and still learn the language, some from safe houses that try to fit into the environment.\nStatistics show that in our municipality there are generally 48.8% of unemployed women. In order to help these women and their families, we are offered the opportunity to set up a community garden and show how such a garden can contribute to the kindness of individuals and the immediate and wider community. The garden would allow us to grow our own food, spend our free time interacting with nature, socialize and self-\ncreate and support community around the association.\nWe together with our mentors at DPM, want to pass on the knowledge of self-care to these women and, consequently, their families, and to demonstrate that the community garden can make a huge contribution.\nBy bringing community members together and socialising, community members will be empowered, sharing responsibilities for space regulation. Garden care contributes to physical and mental health and gives individuals a sense of greater self-confidence, which is also our primary purpose.\nOBJECTIVES\n- Integration of long-term unemployed women into society and, consequently, their families and, over time,\nthe wider community\n- Familiarizing with different modes of self-care\n- Empowerment to make survival easier\n- Conservation of green spaces\n- Promoting intergenerational learning and socialising\n- Organisation of educational workshops on gardening, preparation of delicious meals, use of herbs,\nproduction of natural cosmetics and hygiene aids\n- Transfer of knowledge and skills\n- Community integration\"
- 🎯 Target Group
- 🌱 Expected Results
- \"OUTCOMES/RESULTS\n- Landscaped community garden (10x8m)\n- Empowering women with skills and also the opportunity to contribute to society\n- Encourage another local community in our city to join\n\nWe will include 10 women and 17 members of their families. The Community Garden will be used by 40 citizens, 17 workshops will be carried out (7 cookery, 2 making 4 educational chores in the garden, 1 workshop on use of herbs, 3 workshops on the manufacture of cosmetic products) 15 per workshop.\"
