💡 Description: The project aims to inform young people living in the area of Porto regarding the green transition, climate change and environmental activism by training them with the necessary tools and skills. They aim to inform young people in their region, Porto, about Climate Change, the consequences that it is having already and the possible future consequences, their responsibilities as young individuals and what they can do to alleviate the harsh repercussions of climate change through the green transition. For this, Youth4GreenFuture's aim is to organize an activity, a training course for young people that will raise awareness about climate change in young people and equip them with the necessary tools, knowledge and skills to become young activists in their region for the green transition. The training course will host at least 25 young people, coming from different localities of Porto, aged between 16-24, who are interested in learning about climate change and motivated to have a positive impact in their localities in terms of climate change. Followingly, the participants will be asked to organize awareness-raising activities in their schools, student clubs or associations that they are volunteering for, in order to disseminate and widen the concept of green transition and what other youngsters can do to become part of this initiative. In line with the training course and training of young activists for the green transition, the project will also design and conduct an online awareness campaign which will aim for supporting the activists of the training course in their dissemination activities, along with informing young people in our area at large. The online campaign will be carried out on their social media accounts and they will produce digital content that will aim at young people in our area and inform them about climate change, green transition and European Green Deal. Finally, they aim to have a meeting with participants of our training course and invite them to our youth group and become an association. The training course will be tailored to the needs and realities of the young people living in our area. Youth4GreenFuture aims to include at least 25 young people in our area aged between 16-24 and have training young activists who will then act as advocates and activists informing and educating other young people in their localities. During the selection of the participants, the aim to have diversity among participants in terms of the neighbourhood they live in, their backgrounds and their gender. In addition to that, the project will draw more focus on ex-industrial and pollution-affected areas such as Porto de Leixoes and Matosinhos and try to attract more young people from there to act as agents of change.
🎯 Target Group
🌱 Expected Results: No. of events that will take place during the project is 2, with one on-site training course and another informal meeting with trained youth activists on evaluation of the actions taken. The events will target 25 young people that are living in the area of Porto. Foreseen outreach events of the activists that will be trained through the training course will target 100 young people as indirect beneficiaries of the activism training course. Finally, the digital awareness-raising campaign that will last for 3 months will target 1000 people in the areas of green transition, climate change and environmental activism. Within the digital campaign, at least 12 informative posts on social media will be posted.
