Source: {"body":{"en":"<xml><dl class=\"decidim_awesome-custom_fields\" data-generator=\"decidim_awesome\" data-version=\"0.9.2\"><dt name=\"textarea-1677079838308-0\">💡&nbsp;Description</dt><dd id=\"textarea-1677079838308-0\" name=\"textarea\"><div>Project Syra Smart Sustainable Island (Syra SSI) aims to address the technical, social, economic, and political issues associated with the Just transition on the island of Syros by engaging youth in the policy-making process.\n\nSyra SSI aims to provide policy-oriented training for Young Leaders of the island of Syros, by engaging them in an interactive process of learning the European Union's regional policy, climate policy and the European Green Deal.\n\nThe event will be structured in 3 pillars:\n1) The Just Transition in Syros, and the social implications of the Green Deal on the Island: What can youth do?\n2) Biodiversity, Sustainability, and Renewable Energy: Youth as Change Drivers.\n3) Green Marketing, Green Tourism and Sustainable Growth: Syros in the Making.\n\nThe overarching goal is to achieve political and social change through active youth participation in the island to ensure our Leaders have the right tools to advocate for locally produced renewable energy, affordability and social inclusion, and the mitigation of environmental security threats like air and water pollution, all of which will ultimately improve the standard of living. In order to achieve these changes, the project plans to interact with young leaders through different activity types: working groups; study visits; a summer school (early June), and ultimately, civic activism and policy proposals.\n\nThe learning cycle is as follows:\n- First, raising awareness and ensuring the students understand fundamental concepts (Regional Policy, Climate Change, Environmental Security, the Just Transition Mechanism etc.)\n- Secondly, identifying the problems of Syros and promoting innovative solutions that will reinvigorate the island.\n- Third, implementing the solutions through interaction with local actors and policy proposals in a structured paper.\n- Lastly, evaluating the project's outcomes and ensuring the establishment of a long-lasting mechanism (e.g., a permanent Green Forum of Students) to act as a platform for political dialogue and green innovation in Syros.</div></dd><dt name=\"textarea-1677079866903-0\">🎯&nbsp;Target Group</dt><dd id=\"textarea-1677079866903-0\" name=\"textarea\"><div>Youth from Syros, 16- 22 years old, ready to become the next generation of active citizens for the island!</div></dd><dt name=\"textarea-1677081242556-0\">🌱 Expected Results</dt><dd id=\"textarea-1677081242556-0\" name=\"textarea\"><div>3 to 4 events including Awareness raising on the just transition, Training course for youth on renewables and policy drafting, symposium\n20 to 25 young leaders from schools and civil society\n20 hours of training in policymaking\nEngaging youth in specific policy issues related to the Just Transition through interaction with local actors/ drafting of a \" policy paper\" through WG of participants.\nCreation of a permanent forum/ simulation game for the discussion of green issues in Syros.</div></dd><dt name=\"textarea-1679490845986-0\">✉️&nbsp;Contact</dt><dd id=\"textarea-1679490845986-0\" name=\"textarea\"><div>axitsirgis@gmail.com</div></dd><dt name=\"textarea-1677500710709-0\">🔗&nbsp;More Info</dt><dd id=\"textarea-1677500710709-0\" name=\"textarea\"><div></div></dd></dl></xml>"},"title":{"en":"Syra - Smart Sustainable Island "}}
