💡 Description

This project is about development and learning. The aim is to show young people how to create modern media and talk about the heritage of Silesia, which is in the process of Just Transformation.
The “Hear Silesia” project is about development and learning. It aims to go back to high school and show young people how to create modern media and talk about the heritage of the region, Silesia, which is currently in the process of Just Transformation.
They will not work in the mines, but they must find out why the Just Transition process is so important and why the history of the region is so important.
The goal is for the whole school to learn as much as possible about the Just Transformation and the heritage of the region, and that young people would benefit from it not only in terms of this knowledge but also in terms of media practice.
Experts from both the media and the Just Transition process will be involved in the project. Young people will go on a trip to a mine where coal is no longer mined but is a tourist attraction and an example of heritage revitalization. Young people will undergo media training, after which they will create a series of podcasts about the history and heritage of the region, some episodes with invited guests, some with their own thoughts. In addition, there will be a short video material with a summary of the project and material in the regional media (Silesian Opinia portal) about the project. School students will take part in a lecture with an expert, and the project group will visit the aforementioned mine.
The promotional campaign of the project at school, among the peers of the people who will be recording the conversations, will also be important. The plan is to work with a local recording studio and local experts.

🎯 Target Group

Participants are high school students. The project is directed to a group of 14 people, but two high school classes – 50 people will go on the planned trip to the Guido Mine.

🌱 Expected Results

There will be media trainings that will last one day, including social media training, podcast recording, and camera work.
The result of the project will be 10 podcasts and video materials with a summary of the talks and the publication of materials on the local portal Śląska Opinia.
