💡 Description

Our project is mostly based on awareness-raising trainings and some charity movements. We will organize dynamic actions and different competition and introduce our school to selective waste collection.
We are students of “Bolyai Farkas” High School (https://bolyai.ro/) which is the largest Hungarian school in Romania, with 1200 students. We want to change the students’ perspective about the importance of a low-waste lifestyle. Therefore we plan to organize different workshops in topics like Zero waste, Fast fashion, Green Mobility and Seasonal eating. We will also organize Study trips to the wastewater treatment and to a sorting, transshipment and composting station which will shows the truth of the consequences of the excessive littering. We have considered organizing more dynamic actions, like the “Better 2 than 4 wheels!” which is a biking tour. We encourage our students to participate in our events with competitions such as the Bottle Cap Collecting where the money raised will be donated to charity or Literature application where the students need to be inspired by nature and write about it. Moreover, we have charity movements which include donations like giving unused dresses to underprivileged families and therefore not wasting the cloths we no longer use. We plan to organize Litter Picking and Tree Planting in our city. Most importantly, we want to introduce selective collection of waste everywhere on the school’s territory. This requires a briefing about the categories of the waste (paper, plastic-metal, household waste).

🌱 Expected Results

Expected results should be reflected in quantitative manners. For example: Number of events / Number of participants / Number and type of material distributed / Expected research findings / Number of training hours, etc.
The expected result of our whole project is that the students and teachers are going to live in a more environmentally friendly way. To do this, we organize 4 series of workshops with educational presentations. There will be study trips to the sorting, transshipment and composting station and to the wastewater treatment plant. 188 students can participate in this program. We not only focus on teaching, but also on action, so we are organizing a tree planting for around 70 students, as well as a clean-up of an urban area. We want to raise awareness, especially among young people, of the seriousness of global warming and inspire them to act against it.
