A participatory process is a sequence of participatory activities (e.g. first filling out a survey, then making proposals, discussing them in face-to-face or virtual meetings, and finally prioritizing them) with the aim of defining and making a decision on a specific topic.
Examples of participatory processes are: a process of electing committee members (where candidatures are first presented, then debated and finally a candidacy is chosen), participatory budgets (where proposals are made, valued economically and voted on with the money available), a strategic planning process, the collaborative drafting of a regulation or norm, the design of an urban space or the production of a public policy plan.

The Media Contest invites Project Teams to use their creativity and storytelling skills to capture the essence of green recovery in just transition territories funded by the EU. Each project should submit either a photo and/or a video per category of their choice. The Project Teams are allowed to participate in all the 2 categories indicated below, however, they can only submit an entry per category: 1 photo and/or 1 video. Participants will be encouraged to explore and document the positive changes, innovations, and people behind these transformations.
Thematic of the contest:
- Green Innovations: Photos or videos showcasing innovative green projects, technologies, or practices in just transition territories
- Community Engagement: Images or videos highlighting community involvement and the social aspects of green recovery
- Sustainable Lifestyles: Entries depicting how individuals and communities are adopting sustainable lifestyles and consumption patterns
Submission Period: The contest will start on January 15, 2024 and run until March 10, 2024.
Voting System: Project teams will serve as the judges, with only three votes eligible. Self-voting is not acceptable. The competition process will be conducted through the DECIDIM platform and will commence on March 15, 2024 and remaining open for 15 days.
Awards Ceremony: The Ceremony and the announcement of the winners will take place during the Final Event in Brussels, on the 19th of April 2024.
